School Supply Boxes - 50 Kit Challenge by May 5th!

Simpson Middle parents...


Help us qualify for the 1st Day School Supplies 50 Kit Challenge! If we sell 50 kits between 4/22 - 5/6 our school will be entered to win $2,500 in free school supplies. Buy your kit early this year!

  • it is tradition for our 6th and 7th grade parents to help as chaperones and serve food during the event!
  • If you are volunteering for the 1st time for a school event this year, please complete the required Ident-a-kid volunteer verification prior to the event. Instructions are available here

Congratulations Riya - National PTA Reflections award winner

 

Hearty CONGRATULATIONS to Simpson Middle School student Riya, winner of National PTA Reflections Award of Excellence for her Film Production entry "For the Future"!! We are so excited and proud of your accomplishment! 
 
How many students receive this particular award?  To be awarded the National PTA Award of Excellence, the piece must be one of the 3 or 4 top-scoring entries for its division/arts category in the nation!  
 
The Award of Excellence includes a $200 Young Artist Scholarship, Silver Medal, Certificate of Excellence, and her work will be featured in the National PTA Reflections virtual exhibition. National PTA received over 900 student entries and recognized 200 student artists with Awards of Excellence, Merit and Outstanding Interpretation Award.

Cultural Connections May spotlight - Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Jewish American Heritage Month

 

 

May's Cultural Connections bulletin board highlights Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

 

Jewish American Heritage Month is celebrated in May. KSU Museum of History and Holocaust Education panel exhibit "Anne Frank in Translation" will be on display in the Grade level Commons from May 6-10.

 

This month's newsletter (click here) includes -

  • Learn about GA Tech's Robert C. Williams Museum of Papermaking, how to make sustainable DIY paper at home, and the art of Origami.
  • Check out videos and ideas to celebrate different Asian festivals, henna for beginners
  • Learn about Hannukah celebrations, try some recipes at home

Eagle Pride - 2024 Spring Semester 5K Challenges

Health and Wellness committee chair Shonda has curated a list of all of the fun runs/jogs/walks coming up in April and May if your family is interested in participating.

May 11th - participate in the 10th Annual Midtown Race For MAC 5K. The Midtown Assistance Center’s mission is to prevent homelessness and hunger during periods of crisis by providing emergency assistance to low-income working Atlantans. ❤️

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

May 27th - wrap up all of these Winter/Spring races on Memorial Day with an event in our own backyard, the Memorial Day 5K, starting at the Sprayberry Square Shopping Center. This race is the 1st of the Patriotic Series Races … be sure to check out the others to collect all 3 finisher medals.
