Aniya, a Wheeler HS senior and National Arts Honor Society member set up April's Cultural Connections bulletin board to highlight Art and Literature contributions from around the world. Thank you so much Aniya, we love your creativity!

This month's newsletter (click here) includes -

  • An article by high schooler and local historian Andrew Bramlett about Judge G.T.Carrie, one of the most distinguished citizens of Cobb County and how he was involved in a piece of literary history that inspired Mark Twain‘s writing style.
  • An article by Ms. Rausch, Cobb County art teacher, about how the written word influences her art lessons to bring out her students' visual voice
  • Some ideas to celebrate April's National Poetry Month

Communities in School Reality U Financial Literacy

Our 8th graders had the fantastic opportunity of experiencing a bit of "reality" with a 75-minute personal finance simulation. Through the Communities in Schools Reality U Financial Literacy program, students imagined their life as a 26-year-old, and were provided a unique and individualized future scenario (based on their GPA and online survey). Each student was given a $ amount they could spend. It was very rewarding to see them make decisions, choose wisely and stretch those $$! Thank you to all Simpson Middle school admin, staff and counsellors for facilitating this wonderful event and providing lunch to our volunteers! Thank you volunteers, we could not do this without you!

This program, sponsored by PTSA, was made possible only with the support of our community, through memberships and donations. Your continued involvement is vital in providing more such impactful programs in the future.
